Volunteers help us Shine!

As a Volunteer, you’ll gain tremendous satisfaction from assisting participants in their progress as they enjoy physical, emotional, and cognitive contact with the horses. Horse experience is not necessary. If you are interested in helping with our riding session, we provide training for all volunteers and programs offered.

There are also so many ways to volunteer outside of classes. Individuals, groups, companies or families can volunteer for barn work, events, beautification days, fundraising and much more.

Volunteer trainings, for helping with student classes, are held three times throughout the year, prior to Spring, Summer, and Fall sessions. You will have an opportunity to register for training before each session starts. Clearances and volunteer applications do not need to be completed in order to attend training.

Step 1 – Complete the Volunteer Application by downloading the fillable PDF application below. You may also fill out an application at one of the volunteer trainings.

Step 2 – Save the completed Volunteer Application Form. Email it to us by clicking the button below and attaching your completed form to the email.

All Volunteers will need to complete a criminal record check and child abuse clearances.

Step 4 – To complete the PA Child Abuse Clearance click here.

Step 5 – To complete the application process, send a copy of BOTH clearances to Dolly Greenholt at dolly@sstrmail.org or 3175 Old Harrisburg Road, Gettysburg, PA.

NOTE: You are not required to have your clearances completed in order to attend a training.
